The September meeting was attended by 11 members. Considering there was a
tornado watch out I thought we did pretty good! Where has the summer gone!
Our blood drive was successful and we met our goal. We have another one October
20, 2014 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. We will need volunteers for that event.
The card party is Wed September 17th, 2014, at the VFW post. I put the wrong
date in the newsletter last month. Please pass the word. Doors open at 5:30 pm
and a lite dinner will be provided at 6:00pm. $10.00 per person, bring a team or find
one there. Door prizes, 50/50’s and raffles. Volunteers needed.
The Post Car show is scheduled for September 21 with a rain date of September
28. This is a lot of fun so please support this fund raiser. They need donations for
prizes, Car products like wax and towels etc.
Next month is our inspection and we will be having a potluck at 6:00pm before the
meeting. Please bring your chairman books for inspection. The Post and Men’s Aux
are also invited. Please arrive as close to 5:30 as possible.
The Department of Michigan Fall Conference is October 2-4. Please let me know if
you wish to attend. There will be instructions for Chairman, Trustees, Secretaries
Diane LaPlante, Cancer Chairman, reports that September is National Ovarian
Cancer Month. Please see your doctor for a check-up.
Our district meeting is September 27th in Tecumseh. I urge chairmen to attend for
the school of instruction. Dawn Shock will be driving and meeting at the post at
9:00am if you want to ride along with her.
April Killian, Hospital Chairman is still collecting donations for the Bingo party at the
Veteran’s Hospital in Ann Arbor in April. The Veterans so look forward to this party
and it has been a success every year!
Sheila Santure, Legislative Chairman, would like you to report if you have any
contact with our legislators. This can be a letter or an email or if you see them
Sharon Grodi, Membership Chairman, reminds you to keep sending in your dues.
Please don’t forget cancer dues for Life members.
Dawn Shock, Historian, would like any pictures you have for the book. These must
be sent in picture form please.
Grace Connolly, Scholarship and Youth Activities Chairman, has sent Voice of
Democracy and Patriot’s Pen flyers to Mason Schools and St. Joseph’s School. She
also is working on the Teacher of the Year and graduation breakfast. This hard
working woman could always use some help. Contact her if you want to be a part
of this great work.
LuAnne DuVall, Treasurer, is sending out a letter to all members regarding our dues
and where the money is spent. She explains how the cancer insurance works. She
also gives an update of what we have done at the post in the past year. An
application for new members will be attached.
We all need to work together to help our Post be successful!! Please find a way to
support our functions!!
