Ladies Auxiliary Newsletter
                                                 September 12, 2013

Hello Ladies,
We had a great turnout last night with 18 members.  Thanks to Anna, Valerie and
Lorissa for the food after the meeting.

Please continue to save Campbell Soup labels for Kay Lynch. She reported that four
care packages were sent to troops including jerky, Snyder pretzels and nuts.

April Killian thanked everyone for the donations.  Next month she will be collecting
razors and chapstick for the VA hospital in Ann Arbor, 4/2014.

Stephannie Cherry announced that she initiated the Pledge of Allegiance in her
classroom every day.  She now maintains a patriotic bulletin board at work also.

Lorissa Elinski stated items are needed for the Silver Dollar Table at Pow Wow in
October.  This will benefit Camp Trotter.

Diane LaPlante thanked everyone for the items she collected for the Cancer Booth.
A printout on Ovarian Cancer was distributed.

Dawn Shock received photos for the Historian Book.  Please continue to print photos
and pass along to Dawn for the scrapbook.  She will bring the book in soon for
everyone to view.

Marji Terry reminded everyone to go to to read the National
Legislative Services report from the convention. If you write to your senator or
legislators, please report this information to Marji.  It is important that you make
sure to contact the correct person.

Sharon Grodi reported that we are at 84.3%. Michigan lost over 1,000 members last
year, but District 6 went over in membership.   She received a nice letter
from Dorothy Kanarowski of CA along with her dues.

Grace Connolly stated the three $300 scholarships were drawn. Krystal Dazey,
granddaughter of Kathy Judy; Michael Mominee, grandson of Marcia Mominee; and
Jacey Schultz, granddaughter of James Dusseau, were the winners.

A report on the card party was made. Approximately 90 people attended, which is
good for our first one.

Grace attended the commissioning of Lt. Col. John Detro in Fort Bragg last week. He
lived with the Connolly family while attending high school and ran track with Frank.
We are all proud to see his accomplishments.

A BIG thank you to Knights of Columbus and Betty Roper for their recent donations.
I would like to remind everyone that even though I send emails, then use the calling
list, please call everyone on your list.  Sometimes we don’t check our emails every
day, and sometimes our internet is down.

I was in South Dakota last week and didn’t have service for 4 days in the
mountains!  I had to get near a city for a cell tower.
