June 2013 Newsletter Hello Sisters, I am honored and proud to be back as your Auxiliary President. I am looking forward to working with you this upcoming 2013/14 year. The new Post Commander, Eddie Weaver, came to the meeting for introductions. All members welcomed him. If you have not received an email from me regarding the last funeral we had in May and would like to get notifications from me re: the Aux, please send me your email address. My email is: sheilasanture@gmail.com or text/call me your email address at 734-497-4268. All chairman are invited to the District 6 planning committee meeting on July 13 at Ann Arbor Post 423. Please contact me for more information. Grace Connolly stated the post and it’s auxiliaries are sponsoring three $300 scholarships for members, their children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren. Application for College Scholarship forms will be available in the Kennedy Room. The drawing will be held in August. Two new members, Barbara Miller and Katherine Cousino, joined our auxiliary. If you see them, please join in with me to welcome them. Dawn Shock received a 65th Anniversary Award Certificate for our auxiliary from Michigan Department Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, Lansing. Congratulations to us! Kay Lynch will be collecting books for Piquette Square, a veterans’ homeless shelter in Detroit, at our next meeting. They are asking for non-fiction, mystery, science, adventure, etc. Please pass any books you can donate to Kay. April Killian is collecting shampoo and body wash for the VA hospital in Ann Arbor at our July meeting. These will be included in the boxes filled for our April, 2014 visit. Lorissa Elinski reported Logan Suydam won the drawing to attend Camp Trotter. Diane LaPlante is holding a “no-bake” sale at the next meeting. Please bring the amount of money, to be donated to Cancer Aid & Research, that you would normally spend on a baked item. Sharon Grodi is now accepting 2014 dues.
