April 8, 2015 Hello Ladies! We had a wonderful meeting last Wednesday! I am so happy that we have such a great group of Ladies who are always willing to help serve our Veterans!! The trip to the Veterans Hospital for the bingo party was a success in spite of the tornado warning that sent everyone into the safety of the hallway, according to Sheila on Facebook. Thanks April Killian for making the trip possible. April is already accepting money or donations for the next trip in 2016! I am typing this letter from Allendale, Michigan, where I am taking care of my three grandchildren. My daughter, Auxiliary sister Ginger Burggren, is expecting twins and is on total bedrest. We are so very excited! Please excuse me if I miss anything, I am without my computer and some of my notes. I am happy to announce the results from our election this month: President: Marjorie Terry Sr. Vice: Darlene Andrzejewski Jr. Vice: Sue Toepfer Treasurer: LuAnne Duvall Chaplin: Peggy Dusseau Trustee: April Killian Conductress: Dawn Shock Guard: Kathy Judy It was decided to drop our cancer insurance. Do not confuse this with the cancer grant that comes with the organization but an optional insurance we have been paying for since 2007. In the eight years we have had this insurance we have only had one claim. The cost was $446.49/year and paid for with our annual dues and for the life members the $3.75 that is paid for yearly. The payment by the life members was hard to collect and 27% usually didn’t pay which was a cost to the Auxiliary. The extra savings will cover all quotas and result in a $40.00 savings! This can be picked up next year if it is voted back in. The 87th Annual State Convention is June 3rd-7th, 2015. • Friday, June 5th, 12:00 pm: Ladies who have been members for 45 years or more will be honored. • Saturday, June 6th, 9:00 am: Members will be recognized at the general meeting. Please let me know if you would like to attend. The next district meeting is May 2nd, 2015. We have finished the penny raffle and will have a report next month. The quilt raffle is still going until Memorial Day. Sell those tickets! Our “Community Days” fundraiser at Carson stores was very successful! LuAnne DuVall worked at the store for 4 hours and with the other books sold ahead, and the check from store profits we made close to $1,000!! We are accepting names for our Camp Trotter drawing. Please let me know if you have a camper between the ages of 7 and 12, who would like to attend this wonderful camp. Sincerely, Marjorie Terry, President (734) 735-7404 |
