Happy New Year!! I hope everyone has a healthy and happy new year!
We had a small turnout for the January meeting. I am sure that is due to this cold
weather! Eleven members attended the meeting and we also had the audit and fund
We will be having another fundraiser meeting next month before the February
meeting. It works out well to meet before the meeting at around 6 o’clock. Please
try and make it to that meeting if you can.
We have a few fund raisers in the works. The first is a penny raffle. The prizes are
for cash. The price of the ticket can be as low as a penny and as much as $5.00.,
the price is revealed when you open the envelope. The winners will be drawn at the
Recognition Dinner April 11, 2015. We are selling 500 tickets. Prizes are 1st
$125.00, 2nd $75.00 and 3rd $50.00. The second raffle is the quilt raffle. The
tickets for the quilt are $1.00 ea. or 6 for $5.00. The lovely quilt was donated by Gail
Merce, and Dawn Shock donated the fee to have it sewn together. It is beautiful!!
The winner will be drawn Memorial day. We are hoping to have the tickets, which
were graciously donated by Merkle Funeral Home, on Friday at the post. Please pick
up tickets and sell sell sell!!!
Cancer Chairman, Diane LaPlante, reported that it is Cervical Cancer Awareness
Historian, Dawn Shock, would like you to continue to send in your pictures for the
album she is always working on.
LuAnne DuVall ,our Treasurer, reported Membership is 100%! Also if you haven’t
paid your cancer dues please send it in, this is paid in the annual dues but the life
members pay separately $3.75, only a few more are unpaid. She has also compiled
a list of our National Home life member. Our post has purchased 74 life
Hospital Chairman, April Killian, is still accepting donations for the VA Hospital trip on
Scholarship and Youth Activities Chairman, Grace Connolly, reports that all the
Patriotic Art information has been given out and announcements are made daily
over the speaker at school. This will be a requirement in Art Class. Thank you sister
Santa comes to Erie was a complete success!! We also donated some of the gifts we
didn’t use to other needy groups. AA members who were to have a Christmas party
for the homeless; and to foster children programs; also a military group in Ft. Hood
Thanks to LuAnne DuVall for cleaning out the barn! All the items including some
presents for next year are being stored in storage totes to help keep the items nice
Dawn Shock reports that we are still getting donations towards shipping charges for
a soldier packages for those serving at this time. The donations are coming from
Christ the King Church. Such a wonderful gift!!
The Post is looking for silent auction items for the muskrat dinner this January 30th.
