September 2014 NEXT MEETING: October 1, 2014
We had 18 members at our September meeting. Matt Davis past District Commander came
to the meeting to talk to us and ask our support. He is running for department junior vice
commander. Even with Matt there we had a real short meeting of about 40 minutes. Joe
Joly furnished pizzas after the meeting. Thanks Joe!
Don’t forget the car show. It will be Sept 21st with the 28th as a rain date. Past
Commander Bob LaPointe is chairman for this event. If anyone would like to help, enter a
car or donate a door prize get a hold of Bob. His cell phone # is (419) 377-5645.
There is going to be a parade honoring WWII, Korean and Vietnam War Veterans. It will
start on Sept. 13th at 3pm at St Mary’s park and end at the Monroe VFW Post where there
will be refreshments. We will have members riding in the parade. As it stands now the 40 &
8 train from the Legion will be in our parking lot at 1pm. Please wear your uniform. We
would like a big turn out so please come.
Mason will have home football games on 9-19, 10-10, and 10-24 at 7:00. We will be raising
the flags at these games. We always can use help. Be there 15 minutes before the game.
In warm weather wear your uniform shirt and hat. In cooler weather you can wear a dark
blue jacket and your hat. Tell the person at the gate you are there to raise the flag and you
can walk right in and go to the pole.
The three $300 scholarship winners were: From the post; Mary Whitt, granddaughter of
Mike and Sharon Grodi. From the Ladies Auxiliary; Amanda Revesz, Granddaughter of
Darlene Andrejewski. From the Men’s Auxiliary; Richard DeMars, son of Sandra DeMars.
Congratulations and good luck in your studies.
Remember we still need more people at our funerals so if you would like to be put on a call
list let me know.
As usual if you know of a serviceman or woman who is coming home or deploying let me
know and we post their name on the marquee for a few days.
The post will be sponsoring a Blood Drive October 20. Volunteers will be needed.
Remember, Veteran’s Day Dinner will be Saturday, November 8. We will have more
information in the upcoming newsletter.
Hope to see you Oct. 1
