|August 7, 2013 Next meeting September 4
Our August 7 meeting got started almost on time, we did have some new ideas and events
brought up. We had 19 members present, 5 of them were Past Commanders.
We had a guest at our meeting Dan Birchfield from Monroe Post 1138 to do an Annual
Inspection and sit in on our meeting. I think the inspection went pretty good, thanks to the
hard work by Quartermaster Kelli Chambers.
Comrade Jim Cherry discussed a shirt he is designing for the Post. Jim gave us an idea of
what the shirts should cost to have made and what they should sell for. He also asked for
opinions about colors and type of material the shirts should be.
Jim also ran the idea of creating a History Book of members of our Post. Some good things
start with an idea.
We are needing more members to help with Funeral Services, both daytime and evening
services. Our departing Comrades deserve an Honorable Farewell.
Thanks go out to Post Members, Ladies Aux. and Men's Aux. who worked on the Post
Clean-up July 14. Alot of work got done in 4 hot hours.
The drawing for the College Scholarships will be August 16, 2013 8pm, Friday night. It's
not too late to submit an application. The forms are in the Kennedy Room and on our
Card Party - August 23, at the Post. Lite meals and drinks will be available, Door Prizes,
50/50 & raffle. Proceeds to benefit Youth Programs and Scholarships.
Bedford Stump Removal removed some stumps from the front lawn, did a good job, keep
him in mind if you have stumps to remove.
If you know a Serviceman or Woman who is either going to or returning from an overseas
assignment or have a message that needs to be posted on the marques, leave me a
message on my home phone 734-242-8045.
Looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting Sept. 4
Eddie R. Weaver Commander.
